The Galaxy S II is the successor of The Galaxy S , after embracing a huge success which sold over 10 millions unit delivered across the world. The Galaxy S II  was one of the slimmest smartphone on the planet to date, with just 8,49 mm thick. It features an elegant design with bigger screen with the new imaging technology, new operating system and enhanced user interface.

Overall Design

The first impression of Samsung Galaxy S II is slim and light, with just 8.49 mm thickness and the plastic material case around the body, makes  this phone has just 116 g weight. With the dimensions of  125.3 x 66.1 x 8.5mm combines with  a large display that takes up nearly the whole front surface of the phone, it gives us modern, futuristic look and an easy grip.

Processor

Inside Samsung Galaxy S II heart has a dual core ARM Cortex-A9 processor, clocked at 1.2 GHz that uses Samsung’s Exynos 4210 System on Chips (SoC). The Exynos 4210 uses ARM’s Mali-400 MP GPU (Graphics Processing Unit). So The Galaxy S II will offers high performance multitasking, quick web page loading, enhances your gaming experience, fast image editing, and ultimate smooth user interface.

Storage and Memory

The Samsung Galaxy S II comes with hugely 1 GB dedicated RAM, and either 16 GB or 32 GB internal storage. On the back, within battery compartment there is a micro SD card slot that can support up to 32 GB micro SD card. That’s very large storage for such a small mobile phone.

Display

The Samsung Galaxy S II display brings 4.3 inches WVGA super AMOLED plus capacitive touchscreen which is covered by Gorilla Glass. Super AMOLED plus technology offers brighter, sharper even on the bigger screen, but, the most important is, this screen consumes less energy.

Data and Connectivity

The Samsung Galaxy S II supports super fast wireless standard HSPA+ 21MBps, also has capability to receive cellular data network with quad band UMTS (850/900/1900/2100) and quad band GSM (850/900/1800/1900). This phone has included micro USB port v.20, Bluetooth v3.0+HS, also Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n and Wi-Fi Direct.

The micro USB port supports USB on-the-go, which this Samsung Galaxy S II can act as a ‘host device’ to allow external USB device to be plugged in and used. This phone also offers a Mobile High Definition Link (MHL) which allows direct connect to HDTVs and Display via HDMI interface while charging the the phone at the same time.

The Wi-Fi direct allows Wi-Fi devices to communicate with other for faster data transfer without wireless access points or Wi-Fi hotspot.

Camera

The Samsung Galaxy S II has both rear facing camera and front facing camera. On the back of the device is an 8-megapixel, autofocus  with single-LED flash that can record videos in full high-definition 1080p at 30 frames per second. This camera also features Geo-tagging, touch focus, face and smile detection, and image stabilization. On the front, There is a fixed focus front-facing 2-megapixel camera for video calling, taking photos as well as general video recording, with a maximum resolution of VGA (640 X 480).

Software

Galaxy S II Operating System

Powered by Android v2.3 Gingerbread combined with Samsung’s TouchWiz UI 4.0.This Samsung proprietary UI along with various home screen customizations, Swype (predictive) text input, and implements a number of Hub in to the user interface.

TouchWiz 4.0

TouchWiz 4.0 is the latest Samsung’s proprietary user interface. It uses the same principle as TouchWiz 3.0 found on the previous Galaxy but many improvements have been added, such as home screen customizations, swype text input,  voice recognition, gesture-based control (dubbed as panning),and  four hub (social hub, readers hub, gaming hub and music hub) added.
